INDOOR POOL POWER

High electricity bills keep on increasing and operating costs spiraling out of control?

Perhaps your Dry-O-Tron system was installed more than 20 years ago when electricity was reasonably inexpensive.

Many Dry-O-Tron systems have been installed in the past without an auxiliary gas pool heater or duct heater. Instead they opted for the far less expensive electric duct heater and the option of using just the Dry-O-Tron to heat the pool. This was not of major concern at the time but the increasingly high cost of electricity on Ontario has made this practice very unwise.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • The avg .Dry-O-Tron consumes 6.5 KW of electricity while it is heating your pool.( It actually gives about 5KW or 17,000 Btu)
  • The avg .electric duct heater installed in a residential Dry-O-Tron duct system is 10KW (34000BTU. These are considered very large electrical draws but they actually provide very weak heating for  the pool and the air respectively. In contrast a High Efficiency wall-hung gas boiler of about 200,000 Btu coupled with a hydronic duct coil and hydronic pool water heat exchanger can easily provide double or triple the amount of heat for less than half of the cost.
